Activity Therapy with Pre-adolescents and Adolescents

Activity therapy is a therapeutic approach primarily for pre-adolescents and adolescents. Many times teenagers are not ready for a more traditional model of counseling aka talk therapy. However, they are typically too mature for play therapy. In these cases, activity therapy tends to be a more meaningful fit. Through various methods such as art, therapeutic games, and talk, this special and often overlooked group of individuals are able to explore their life experiences, thoughts, and feelings in a safe, comfortable setting and relationship.
